Talent, connectivity & EoDB make Doon ideal location: CEO

One of the largest assurance, tax and advisory firms in India, Grant Thornton India LLP opened its office in Dehradun on the weekend. In an exclusive conversation with The Pioneer, the firm’s chief executive officer Vishesh C Chandiok spoke about the reasons for opening an office in Dehradun and the potential seen in the State of Uttarakhand by the firm among other aspects.

“Dehradun was an obvious choice for our India Knowledge and Capability Centre considering the State’s industry-friendly policies and its reputation of being an educational hub. Its connectivity, proximity to Delhi, talent base along with investor friendliness and ease of doing business in the State made Dehradun an ideal location for our office.

Here, our office will function as our domestic knowledge and capability centre,” he said.

Regarding the scope for work in the State, he said that the firm will look forward to working with the Government and also provide its services to the private sector.

Referring to the investors summit held recently in Dehradun, he said that considering the response received, the firm expects increased opportunities for work.

He said that Uttarakhand is expected to attract significant investments in the near future, especially in focus sectors like automobile, tourism, renewable energy and information technology.

As a growth advisor to dynamic businesses, Grant Thornton in India has the resources and experience to stimulate the growth potential of the region and, in turn, increase the employment opportunities for the local population.

For the new office, the firm will be creating more than 150 jobs in the next one year in the State of Uttarakhand.

This will help the firm to augment its knowledge and capability centre to support its focus sectors and services.
