An Assembly Committee headed by Speaker Dinesh Oraon today chose Simdega MlA Vimla Pradhan for ‘Excellent MlA’ award for 2017. Pradhan would be conferred with the award on November 22, observed as Foundation Day of the Assembly.
Announcing the decision after the meeting that ended at 7.30 in the evening on Monday, the Speaker told media persons that the two time legislator representing Simdega (ST) constituency would be getting the prestigious award.
“The Assembly committee members unanimously agreed on the name of senior MlA from Simdega Vimla Pradhan for Excellent MlA. She would be awarded on the Foundation Day in a gala programme,” said Oraon.
The BJP legislator had in her previous term served as Minister of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development and Tourism under the leadership of Arjun Munda.
Besides electing the ‘Excellent MlA’, the committee comprising leader of Opposition Hemant Soren, BJP’s Nirbhay Sahabadi, Congress legislative Party leader Alamgir Alam and Geeta Koda, also chose five staff of the Jharkhand Assembly Joint Secretary Tej Narayan Pandey, PRO Gulam Md Sarfaraz, Abhiram Chandra Majoomdar, Assistant Buddhdev Yadav and Driver Krishna Oraon as ‘Excellent’ workers for their contributions and dedication for work.
