Emerging Odia poets Pratiksha Jena from Angul district and Sunil Mishra of Baleswar district have been chosen for the 1st Yuva Prativa Award 2017 instituted by the Remuna Degree College and the Smruti committee from this year in memory of poet Chandra Kumar Mohanty, who died in 2010.
The award will be given to Jena and Mishra on September 15 at the Bhasa Bhawan of the Remuna Degree College by guest Dr Hrushikesh Mallik.
Jena to her credit has three poetry books 'Doora Adoora', 'Niara College' and 'Nija Samparkare Kichhi Kharap Kabita' while Mishra has penned several poems. Both are the well-known in contemporary Odia poetry.
The memorial function will be followed by a poetry reading session where Srideb, Krushna Mohanty, Sitansu lenka, Arupananda Panigrahi, Dipti Das, Bimala Jena, Pradipta Mohanty, Harapriya Batik will recite the poems of Chandra Kumar Mohanty.
