An unruly crowd forced ‘Nastik’ film director and producer Shailesh Verma to sit with DC and SP Palamu as they held a press briefing on Friday here urging residents not to be obstructive in the shooting of the film in the city.
‘Nastik’ film is being shot in Palamu and its shooting in Hussainabad is over but the crew of the film has had a harrowing time in Chainpur where the crowd swells, invades the film ground, pressures for selfie and does all to come in the lens forcing the camera men to reduce the width of the lens which has affected the frame of this film.
Film crew of Nastik had a pleasant time in shooting scenes at Daltonganj Railway station said film’s director cum producer Shailesh Verma, who hails from Patna in Bihar. Verma said there came no problem in shooting at Hussainabad.
Verma said, “At the Daltonganj Railway Station we had a character drawn from the local who performed very well. About 17 to 18 locals are in this film too.” The film has a cast of Arjun Rampal, Tinu Anand, Bajrangi Bhaijan fame girl Harshali, Ravi Kishen and Divya Dutta.
Film director cum producer Verma said, “Padmavati was shot over the years but none saw any clip of it during its making. Our movie’s video clips are on you tube. What is thisIJ It affects our financial interest. People who watch our shooting are making video clips which are not only a big distraction to our characters playing roles in this film but it also put at stake our revenue to come.” Verma further said their men sitting in Mumbai have expressed deep concern the way Nastik in making is so out for public view.
Explaining the reason as to why he (Verma) chose Chainpur where the film is to be shot at length Verma said, “It is a Kasba. It has all the features of being a Kasba. And so we are here with our lights, cameras and trolleys but the crowd here is simply over enthusiastic spoiling our chances of making a perfect film of a character, who returns from a metropolis and feels at home with the rustic genre.”
DC Ameet Kumar said crowd has been found perching dangerously from their roof top which is neither safe for them nor for the crew of the film. DC said crowd is disrespectful to rope barricading and other preventive measures and are just jumping enough to have a peep into the shooting.
SP Indrajeet Mahatha said the crowd by way of this kind of behaviour and action is defeating itself. Verma said Palamu has potentialities enough from cinematic point of view but it has to learn to give space and breathing time to the characters. In 1996 Satyajit Ray the doyen of Hindi cinema was in Palamu shooting a film at Kechki.
‘Nastik’ crew will be in Palamu for another 5 to 6 weeks. The SP has drawn a security cover for the crew as two police vehicles escort the characters once they come out of the hotel here where they have checked in.
The DC and SP just took a chance to make an appeal to people to behave while shooting is on but the two too looked skeptical if the crowd would behave normal.
