With ruling BJP released a list of 13 more candidates for Gujarat Assembly polls, total 148 names out of 182 constituencies decided.
In the next couple of days, lists of remaining 34 candidates are expected to be released. The think tank of the saffron brigade has given importance to winnability of candidates after detailed study of all 182 constituency and also considered caste factors too. Three Patidars have been given tickets in the fifth list of BJP candidates.
Veteran MlA from North Gujarat town Unjha, Narayan Patel has been repeated. Besides Patel, Gujarati film star Hitu Kanodia found his name in the list from Idar assembly constituency in North Gujarat. The seat is reserved for SC. His father Naresh and uncle Mahesh, both are actors in Gujarati films had remained MlA and MP respectively from BJP. In the 2012 Assembly polls Hitu contested from Kadi constituency, but he lost from there. Amit Chaudhary who left the Congress ahead of the elections of three Rajya Sabha seats of Gujarat and joined BJP got ticket from Manasa constituency. He is considered as close aide of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela.
Minister of State in Vijay Rupani Government Vallabh Kakadia and BJP’s chief whip in Gujarat Assembly Pankaj Desai have been repeated from their respective constituencies. Other key candidates in the list are Sumanben Chauhan from Kalol. She is daughter-in-law of Parliamentarian from Panchmahals Prabhatsinh Chauhan. Her father-in-law had threatened to revolt if no one from his family was given candidacy. Among others, who have been made candidates from BJP include, Vijay Chakraborty from Vadgam, Ranchhod Rabari from PAtan, Ramanlal Patel from Vijapur, Karsan Solanki from Kadi in North Gujarat and Piyush Desai from Navsari, Dushyant Patel from Bharuch, Arvind Chaudhari from Vyara and Vivek Patel from Udhna in South Gujarat.
