Divyang IRS officer's biopic set to steal show

Saturday, 31 December 2016 | PNS | Ranchi

This upcoming movie is not a sequel or a remake of Rajkumar Santoshi’s commercial, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’ but this biopic unfolds the unconventional journey of ‘Divyang’ IRS officer, Ajay Singh whose willpower will inspire audiences  to believe that nothing is impossible, if one is determined to reach heights.

Aptly termed by the filmmakers ‘Ajab Singh Ki Gazab Kahani’, the movie production unit has selected the film title looking at the struggle of the protagonist who has not just crossed several obstacles at personnel levels but has also used innovative approaches to bring out ‘Black Money’, the most talked about topic at present.

Deputed as Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax at Jamshedpur after qualifying the civil services examination in 2011, ‘Ajab Singh’ aka ‘Ajay Singh’ believes that ‘Black Money’ is the major hurdle in development and need to hose down all undeclared wealth for betterment of lower strata of society. Using several methods to track the culprits indulged in tax evasion, hawala, money laundering, Singh at present holds the coveted record of being in the list of top 10 revenue collectors of India.

Speaking about the movie, during its music and trailer launch here on Friday Singh said, “This is my attempt to inspire the generation next. My aim behind working in this movie is to motive differently-abled people that they all are at par with everyone else in society. Whatever I have attempted in my life, I have achieved success in it. Acting was just another endeavour to prove my mettle. The movie that highlights my journey from childhood days will not just preach the public on different humanitarian grounds but will also depict my approaches in tactfully solving out various cases of ‘Kala Dhan’,” added, IRS Ajay Singh.

Playing a lead role and reliving the journey again was little complex for Singh both emotionally and physically as he used to shoot for the movie in night schedule and manage all official tasks in morning. With his sheer dedication, the movie was complete in just 40 days. Interestingly, if Singh would not have been playing the lead in the movie, he would prefer Bollywood action king Akshay Kumar to act as hero in his biopic.

After completing all the pre-production, production and post production work, the movie has been sent to Central Film certification Board for approval. The entire movie is based in the backdrop of Jharkhand. “The shooting was done in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Seraikela and Kharsawan at actual setups. No film set was made for the purpose. Artists from National School of Drama (NSD) were also roped in for the project as well. From script to dialogue timing to dialogue delivery all things was coordinated well by all the artistes working in the film,” added, film writer and director, Rishi Prakash Mishra.

The two hours five minutes movie that covers ‘Black Money’ as the prominent issue will hit the theater soon. The entire cast and crew of the feature film were present on the promo and music launch of film on Friday.

On the occasion of its music and trailer launch The Pioneer, Jharkhand Edition, MD Pawan Bajaj graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts of creative team members and the lead actor for the wonderful social endeavour.
