Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday approved inclusion of Rautia and Khangar castes in the State’s scheduled tribe list. This decision came in the wake of recommendation made by Dr Ram Dayal Munda Tribal Research Institute. Now, the proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
The Institute submitted its report to the Government on June 26, 2016. According to the recommendations of TRI, primitive features and distinctive culture are rooted in Khangar and Rautia race. Both races are backward in social, educational and economical aspects. TRI recommended for inclusion of Rautia and Khangar castes as tribes.
These two castes had been recommended for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list earlier also. At that time the State Government assigned TRI to send the recommendation with a reason for incorporating Rautia & Khangar castes in the list of Scheduled Tribes.
