'10l plants of 20 varieties to be planted in World Herbal Forest'

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that in the current monsoon season, ten lakh plants of 20 varieties would be planted in the World Herbal Forest which is being developed in the Morni Hills. These would include plants of Harad, Haldi, Behda, Amala, Rudraksh and Arjun.

Presiding over a meeting to develop the World Herbal Forest here, Vij said that the State Government, with the support of Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar, would develop this forest on about 52,000 acres of land in the Morni Hills.

In this forest, about 25 different varieties of plants found in the country would be planted. In the first phase, the Forest Department would plant 50,000 plants each of 20 medicinal varieties.

Vij said that a joint task force of the Haryana Forest Department, Patanjali Yogeeth, Haridwar, and local people of Morni had been constituted to oversee smooth running of the Herbal Forest. This committee would prepare an action plan to bring it on the world map, prepare a list of the plants currently planted and also determine their supervision level.

Pantanjali Yogpeeth, Acharya Bal Krishan, said that a team of their scientists would visit Morni and help in plantation of different varieties of plants in different areas.

Those present on the occasion included, Yog Guru Ramdev, Acharya Bal Krishan among others.

International-level Naturopathy Institute to be constituted

An international-level Naturopathy institute would be constructed on 18 acres of land in Panchkula. Besides, the State Government has urged the Central Government to set up a 50-beded AYUSH hospital in the state.

Vij said that the State Government is making all possible efforts to revive the ancient medicinal methods of the country. The Naturopathy Institute at Panchkula would provide world-class medical facilities according to  Ayurveda discipline.

A panchkarma centre would also be constructed in every district of the state. So far, such centres have been opened in four districts where patients are being treated through different disciplines of Ayurveda. Ayurvedic doctors are being posted in the primary health centres in the rural areas to provide the rural people proper medical care, said the Minister.

Maximum sports bodies in Haryana illegal

Anil Vij, who is also Haryana Sports and Education Minister, said that maximum sports bodies in Haryana are working illegally which made the players suffer heavily.

He said that directions had been issued to the Registrar, Firms and Societies, to thoroughly investigate such bodies so that the fake ones could be closed. The Society has already cancelled registration of a football association, he added.
