Haryana CM: Sikh community has a proud history

Monday, 16 November 2015 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said that the Sikh community has a proud history and the people of this community had played an important role in preserving the religion and liberating the country.

There are thousands of such examples where Sikhs had laid down their lives for protecting the nation and serving the humanity. Only by making the concept of a discrimination-free society real, we could realise the dream of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, said the Chief Minister while addressing the people at the function organised to mark the Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji by Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee at Badkhalsa Memorial in district Sonipat.

He said that Guru Tegh Bahadur ji refused to bow before the Mughal Empire. The supreme sacrifice of an ancestor from village Badkhalsa, Bhai Kushal would always be remembered. Bhai Kushal Singh offered his head to fool the Mughals so that the head of the Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji could be taken to Anandpur Sahib.

The Chief Minister said that he bow his head in reverence to this holy site.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of every community of the State to rise above the narrow consideration of caste and class and work as a Haryanvi in order to take the State further on the path of development. We have also given a slogan ‘Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek’.

On the demands raised by the community, he asked the people to come together and form a committee so as to meet their demands.
