With a probe into the alleged encounter of Manoj Vashishth has been already made by the sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the local Bagpat police from where the victim hailed, reportedly lodged a fresh case against nine police personnel of Delhi.
The case was registered in connection with the gunning down of Manoj, in an alleged encounter at a restaurant in New Delhi. The Baghpat Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) issued the order in this regard after which the police took cognizance and registered case against Delhi Police inspector Dharmendra Kumar, on Monday.
Kumar was leading the team along with - SI Vivek Singh, SI Bhoop Singh, HC Sanjay Pal Singh, HC Anil Rao, Constable Jitendra Kumar, Constable Abdul Ahed Khan, Constable Mohit Salve and Constable Munish Solanki, all of whom were now named in the case by the Bagpat police. FIR has been lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 302 (murder), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
It was registered on a compliant filed by the victim’s brother Anil, who had alleged that Vashishth’s killing was a conspiracy of the police. As CBI is probing the Manoj Vashishth encounter case, the FIR will be transferred to them, the local district police chief disclosed to the media. Vashisth was allegedly killed in an encounter on May 16 last at a restaurant in central Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar by a team of Delhi police.
