28th National Exhibition of Contemporary Art tomorrow

The ‘28th National Exhibition of Contemporary Art’ will be organised at the multi art centre, Bharat Bhavan. The exhibition is organised jointly by South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur and Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. The exhibition will display the creations of various artists of the country. The exhibition will be kick started on April 17 and will be on view till April 26. Moreover, on the inaugural day of the exhibition, 18 artists from across the country will be honoured with the awards worth Rs17 lakh.

While talking to mediapersons on Wednesday, Director of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, Piyush Kumar informed about the exhibition and said, “For past 27 years, we are organising this exhibition in Nagpur itself. This is the first time that we are displaying the exhibition at Bharat Bhavan.”  Elaborating further, he said, “It is a great honour for any artist to display his or her creations at Bharat Bhavan as it is a well known platform across the world. So, we are really happy that the 28th exhibition is held here.”

Notably, all art forms will be displayed at this exhibition. From paintings to graphics and from photographs to mixed media will be a part of the exhibition. Interestingly, the art work on terracotta, sculptures and dying art will also be displayed here. He said, “In this exhibition, we have included all the categories, be it the amateur artists or the experienced ones. The art lovers of the city will have a close look at the art pieces of all varieties.”

Kumar further informed that 18 artists will be given the award worth Rs17 lakh. He further said that to encourage the young artists of the country, South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur will give away the awards to 10 young artists worth Rs50,000. “The winners of the award have already been selected by the special selection committee,” Kumar further informed. As many as 214 art pieces will be displayed at the Modern Art Gallery, Bharat Bhavan from April 17.
