Shridhar conferred with Harishchandra Award

Senior journalist and a noted author Vijaydutt Shridhar was conferred with Bharatendu Harishchandra Award. Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar gave away the award to Vijaydutt Shridhar on September 9 in a programme organised at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

On the occasion, senior journalists, authors and writers were present. Notably, Bharatendu Harishchandra Award is the highest award given by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to encourage the original creative writing in Hindi on Mass Communication. This year Vijaydutt Shridhar was conferred with the award.

Vijaydutt Shridhar hails from Bhopal and is the founder of Madhav Rao Sapre Museum of Newspapers and Research Institute. He has worked with several state level committees and has also worked as the director of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Mass Communication earlier. He has been awarded Padamshree in 2012 by Government of India.

Notably, Vijaydutt Shridhar’s book ‘Pehla Sampadakiya’ was selected as the best original writing in Hindi, under Journalism and Mass Communication category. The book won the first prize under the same category. The book was published by Samayik Publications, New Delhi in year 2011. The book became very popular as its readership was increasing across the country. The book is all about development of journalism in Hindi, struggles in journalism and other criteria in journalism. Further, the book also has some quotes of noted editors of Hindi Journalism which explains the scenario of Hindi journalism in a more elaborated manner.

Further, his thesis ‘Bharatiya Patrakarita Kosh’ is considered to be the best research in journalism and has been given a special preference academically.
