Make me nation's chowkidar, says Modi

Saturday, 12 April 2014 | DHIRAMOHAN RAY | TALCHER

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi arrived at Talcher at about 1.00 pm on Friday to address a meeting. In his speech, he appealed the mass to vote in favour of the BJP candidates and give him a chance to be the chowkidar in the Parliament to watch the nation as well as take care of the people.

He said that Talcher is situated on the west bank of river Brahmani and 12 coal mines are here, yet the coal town is reeling under several problems like scarcity of drinking water and coal for domestic use.Though coal is being produced and transported from Talcher coalfields to various power plants located in the States and outside, but the people of undivided Dhenkanal district are crying for electricity, drinking water and even proper rehabilitation after losing their land to various projects.

Neither the State Government nor the Centre has been careful to sort out the genuine concerns of the common mass, Modi said, and promised that he would do everything possible for the development of the area.Among others, BJP State president KV Singh Deo, national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan, former Union Minister Dr Debendra Pradhan, candidate for Dhenkanal lok Sabha seat Rudranarayan Pani, MlA candidate for Talcher constituency Kalandi Samal, MlA candidate for Pallahara constituency Ashok Mohanty, MlA candidate for Angul constituency Minaketan Amanta and MlA candidate for Parjang Assembly constituency Bhibhutibhusan Pradhan were on the dais.
