Tuesday, 23 December 2014 | PS/ Pioneer News Service | Lucknow

State government has recommended for a CBI probe into the suicide by Bollywood lyricist Santosh Anand’s only son Sankalp and his wife in Mathura on October 15 last.

Sources in the state Home department here confirmed about the recommendation of the CBI probe into the incident. “The state government has sent his recommendation letter to the Centre for the CBI probe on December 12 last and it is now for the Centre to decide the same,” disclosed SP (law and order)attached to the DGP office. Talking to media persons here on Monday evening, he claimed that till then, Mathura police would continue to investigate the matter. It may be mentioned that Mathura police advocated a CBI probe following the demand of the family members of the deceased.

It may be mentioned that Mathura police, which already recommended a probe by sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation, to find out the circumstances which forced officer of loknayak Jaiprakash Narain National Institute of Technology, Criminology and Forensic Science (lJNNITCFS), Sankalp to commit suicide, already burnt mid-night oil to extract some leads which helped them to nail down the accused named in the 10-page suicide note.

Sources said that the Crime Branch of Mathura police which is so far making investigation had tried to procure details of the 'contracts’ in (lJNNITCFS), which led to bungling and later resulting into death of Sankalp. Besides, Mathura police also tried to procure victim’s bank transactions to confirm that how and when money has been withdrawn and whom major payments have been made. Sources said that after collecting above details, Mathura police might serve notices to the accused and later grill them to find out the truth behind the allegations made in the suicide note by Sankalp, before he decided to end his life along with his family members.

Earlier Mathura police already registered a case under Section 306 IPC against 38 persons including than Director of lJNNITCFS. Kamlendra Prasad (Presently posted as managing director of UP police housing board), DIG of lJNNITCFS, Sandeep Mittal and 36 others. Besides Kamlendra Prasad and Sandeep Mittal, others who were named in the FIR included Dr BN Chattoraj, MK Dagi, Simi Shankhdhar, Amit Shankdhar, Ruhi Ganguly, Gauri Shankar, lV Singh, Sudhir, Ajay Thakur, Farooq, Hafiz Siddiqui, Pradep Sharma, Mr Srivastava, Sharad Ojha, Dev Kaushik, Siddaharth Agarwal, Kamdar Mumbai, Dr Batra, Sapna Goyel, SI Sukhvinder, Arun Jain, Mithlesh Chaubey, JP Yadav, Pushpa Yadav, BS Chauhan, Jauli, AK Garg, Alok, Sarang, Deepa Pande, Imtiyaz Khan, Ravindra, Imran, Tyagi, Captain Chaudhary, and Machan.

It may be mentioned that noted song writer Santosh Anand’s son SankalpAnand (41), hailing from New Friends Colony in New Delhi, and working as lecturer in lJNNITCFS in New Delhi, left his house along with his wife Naresh Nandni (40) and daughter Ridhima (4), on their car and stopped in front of Pashupati Factory near Shivam Dhaba in NH-2 at Mathura on the evening of October 15 last. They later went near the railway track and after waiting for sometime, the couple jumped before an intercity train going from Agra to New Delhi. While the couple died on the spot, their daughter received injury and survived as she fell between the tracks.

The cops later found cash and other items from the car along with a 10-page suicide note in which Sankalp mentioned several names with their mobile numbers along with a DG and DIG rank officer posted in the above Institute when the bungling took place. Mentioning several names in his note having October 14 as date, Sankalp mentioned that  the trauma started from him since October 2012.

later mentioning months and names, he went on to say that how several crore rupees totaling over Rs 250 crore, has been extorted from persons through
fake construction work and job racket and a big share of it also goes to the two IPS officers besides other staffers, and private persons. He claimed that when senior officers found trouble for them, they tried to push entirely responsibility on him and even many of those who gave money, started threatening and torturing him. In the end, blaming all the persons named in the suicide note, Sankalp said that he found no other way than to end his life along with his family members to get rid of the trauma.

later Santosh Anand demanded a probe by the sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), into the suicide. Alleging high level conspiracy and a scam of several crore rupees as alleged by Sankalp in his suicide note, his father Santosh Anand, who wrote popular songs in ‘Roti, Kapada aur Makan’ and also won Filmfare Awards, said that only a high level probe could nail down the culprits as they were sitting at high places.

‘State government should recommend a CBI probe into the matter as only in-depth probe would reveal the truth that how hundreds of crore of rupees has been extorted in the name of construction and job racket’, demanded Santosh Anand, who lost his only son and is now looking after his grand-daughter who was injured when her parents jumped with her to commit suicide. Some colleagues of Sankalp also demanded a CBI probe alleging that when senior police officers and that too a rank of DG has been involved in the death, than only a Central agency could enquire the matter to find out the truth as local police is not in the position to do much in the matter.
