The batch of officers who was commissioned on February 9 in 1964 from Indian Military Academy is likely to congregate in Dehradun in the near future. It is noteworthy that the batch was the one of the biggest batches (next to September 1963 batch) ever passing out from IMA.
There were a total of 1192 GCs (Gentlemen Cadets) including 20 GCs of Nigerian Army. The 151 GCs were of 33rd Regular Course ( ex 24 NDA course), 52 GCs were from 3 GCs were from OTU (NCC course ), 49 GCs were from 4 SSRC (Technical entry) course, 914 GCs were from EC -7 course. As young officers most of us, actively participated in 1965 war against Pakistan and then in 1971 war.
Most of the officers were wounded in the war and few duly decorated with gallantry awards besides, many of course-mates have given the supreme sacrifice by laying down their lives for the safety, protection and honour of the motherland. Among the passed out course, lt Gen (Retd) TS Shergill became Commandant of IMA.
