Arvind Mishra of Dehradun successfully staked his claim for entry into the Guinness book by breaking Poland's Errol Muzawazi's record of giving longest lecture. Celebrations broke out in campus of Graphic Era University here on Thursday morning as Mishra, Assistant Professor of Mechanical engineering, achieved the unique feat at the MBA hall of the university.

The World record for giving lecture continuously for 121 hours is in the name of Polish citizen Muzawazi who made the record at the University of Jagiellonaian at Krakow in 2009. Mishra started his lecture on scientific computations at 6 am on March 1 at the Graphic Era University and broke the record at 7 am on Thursday. Determined to make the record, virtually impregnable Mishra continued with his endeavour and has shown his eagerness to continue his lecture till 4 pm on Friday.

As Mishra continued with his lecture, celebrations erupted in the university campus and the students and teachers congratulated each other on the unique feat and distributed sweets. The University decided to felicitate Mishra by giving two increments and awarding 1 lakh of rupees. Speaking at the felicitation ceremony the Cabinet Minister of forests, law and sports Dinesh Agarwal said that the people of the state are feeling proud on the achievement of Mishra; he hoped that the students would get benefit from the immense talent of Mihsra.  The Chairman of the Graphic Era Univeristy Kamal Ghansala said that to make the world record one should have physical and mental strength apart from the passion. The Mussoorie MlA Ganesh Joshi praised Mishra and the University for breaking the record. Pushpa Mishra the mother of Arvind Mishra received the cheque of 1 lakh of rupees from Dinesh Agarwal.
