Continuing their tradition of imparting education to the underprivileged, Manav Sthali School in Central Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar is organising a literacy week to spread awareness about education.
The programme commenced on Wednesday with a ‘literacy Pledge’ taken by all the guests, teachers and the students to eradicate the darkness of illiteracy and light the lamp of knowledge. The highlight of this literacy week will be literacy mela and dance competition organised for learners and community dwellers. And other competitions for the entire week are singing, poetry, declamation, street play, poster slogan and cartoon making in the theme of literacy.
“Today more than 100 schools are involved in this noble cause of “each one teach one” and from this year we are going to start giving vocational classes for the learners helping them to know about painting, sculpture, computer education and fashion related courses making them move a head with the modern world,” said Director and Founder principal of the school Mamta V Bhatnagar.
Eminent personalities from Ministry of Education, embassies, principals of various reputed schools of Delhi were also invited to encourage the volunteers and learners to carry their relentless campaign with same zeal and dedication. “We go to learners’ places after school and teach them. Make them aware of basic things to survive in this world like traffic rules and documentation work at Government offices and banks. Apart from that we give vocational training to them on every last Saturday of the month in school,” said a volunteer student of the school.
