The play was staged by the students of Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD).The play began with showing the rich culture of Bundelkhand during British era. The villagers are in a festive mood as a fair is being organised there. The people are dancing, singing and having fun, but the sudden arrival of British officers and ruining the fun made Isuri aggressive.

As he wanted to take a stern step, but the teachings of his Guru Bharose Baba stop him from doing so. He began writing about the prevailed situation and spread awareness among the people of Bundelkhand against the Britishers. He falls for a girl Rajjo, who inspires him to write romantic poetry. He also wrote about the culture and tradition of Bundelkhand which are remembered till now.

The play was not only informative, but also became enjoyable and interesting at a point. The performance given by the students was highly appreciated by the theatre lovers. Talking to The Pioneer, director of the play said, “Isuri is a very well renowned poet of Bundelkhand. He used his writing skill as a weapon against the Britishers and as a friend for the freedom fighters. We have tried to show the struggle he has faced all through and fought for his country.”

Further, Pandey informed that there are very less material available on the life of Isuri and this was the main reason behind staging this play. “We wanted to bring into light the struggle of a poet from Bundelkhand about whom a handful of people know and I have noticed that most of the people have not heard his name even,” he added.

“This play not only highlights the time of Britishers in Bundelkhand keeping in mind the political, economic and social issues, but it also portrays the life of Isuri as a whole.”
