Former international cricketer of Ranchi, Seema Desai took her last breath around 3 am at the Rajeev Gandhi Cancer Hospital on Thursday. Seema was suffering from cancer. According to sources, her condition had been critical for the past week.
She was born on January 9, 1965. She had a BCom degree from Jamshedpur Women’s College and had also obtained law degree from Karimcity College. Her 30 years cricket career began in 1980 wherein she played against Andhra Pradesh team at Hyderabad.
She led the Indian Women’s Cricket team against Australia in 1986. Seema has marked as many as 14 centuries, 41 semi-centuries, more than 100 matches and 900 wickets in the 1,000 matches played by her.
Desai had also represented as Captain at the Eastern Railway, Eastern zone, Bihar state, Jharkhand, Ranchi University and All India Universities cricket tournaments. Her last rituals were performed in Kolkata on Thursday.
