Workshop on Motor Vehicle Accident Claim Tribunal held

A one day workshop was organized on Motor Vehicle Accident and Insurance Claim in Conference Hall, 40 Courts Bhawan, Civil Court, Ranchi. The workshop was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, P.O. M.A.C.T. Manish, Advocate, Jharkhand High Court, Arvind Lal, Civil Surgeon Ranchi, Prabhat Kumar, Traffic S.P., Ranchi, Kailash Karmali, City SP, Ranchi, Rajkumar Mehta, representatives of all police stations of Ranchi district and PLVs were present.

The stage was conducted by DLSA Secretary Kamlesh Behera and LADCS Deputy Chief Rajesh Kumar Sinha.

In the workshop, the provision and simplification of the process of providing timely and proper compensation to the family of the victim of a motor accident was discussed. On this occasion, P.O.M.A.C.T, referring to the changes made in the Jharkhand Motor Accident Laws in the year 2019 and 2022, said that the information of road accidents has to be submitted to the tribunal by the concerned police station within 48 hours.

He further said that accidents do not come looking at time, it can happen to anyone at any time. He also said that PLV and other government institutions should spread awareness among the people that accidents can happen anywhere at any time, so bike riders should wear helmets and car drivers should wear seat belts. Also, if an accident happens anywhere, the people around should inform the police and help in taking the injured person to the nearest hospital. The police does not make the person who takes the injured to the hospital a witness.

Further, he said that in road accident cases, there is a provision for the investigator to submit the First Accident Report (FAR) in the given format to the Claims Tribunal within 48 hours of the accident, and there is also a provision to give one copy to the accident victims, insurance company and Jhalasa. Along with this, there is also a provision for the investigator to submit the detailed accident report within the time limit to the Claims Tribunal within 90 days of the accident. Along with this, there is also a provision to give one copy of this to the accident victims, claimant, driver, owner, insurance company and Jhalasa. Along with this, he threw light on all the points related to MACT and discussed various firms related to MACT and asked all the firms to submit on time, so that the motor accident cases can be settled on time and the appropriate compensation amount can be provided to the concerned victims on time.
