A significant demand for the welfare of Jharkhand’s home guards was raised in the State Assembly as Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar called for equal pay and facilities for home guards, similar to police personnel. Addressing the House during Zero Hour, the legislator emphasized that home guards play a crucial role in maintaining law and order in both rural and urban areas but continue to be deprived of fair wages and benefits.
Citing the Supreme Court’s directive on “equal pay for equal work,” MLA Sardar urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure home guards receive salaries and benefits at par with police personnel. He stressed that their hard work and contribution to security cannot be ignored, as they work alongside the police force in challenging conditions.
“The dedication of home guards deserves recognition. They provide essential services, ensuring public safety and assisting law enforcement in times of need. Denying them equal wages and facilities is unjust,” Sardar stated in his appeal.
His demand has sparked a new ray of hope among thousands of home guards across the state, who have long been advocating for better working conditions and remuneration. The issue has gained momentum, with home guards expecting a favorable response from the government.
Sardar’s strong stand on the matter has put pressure on the administration to address this long-standing demand and ensure that those who dedicate their lives to public safety receive their due rights. The state government is yet to respond to the demand, but the raised concerns have intensified discussions around the welfare of home guards in Jharkhand.
