A 65-year-old man, Raju Jadhav, died under suspicious circumstances in Bagh Sewania, Bhopal, after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance at the residence of his live-in partner. The incident took place around 11 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, in Amarai locality. Jadhav was rushed to the hospital by his family but succumbed to the poison during treatment early Saturday morning.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. While initial findings suggest suicide, Jadhav's daughter, Aarti Rajput, has strongly refuted this claim, alleging that her father was murdered by his live-in partner.
Jadhav, who previously worked as a conductor for a private school bus, had been separated from his first wife for several years. He had been in a live-in relationship with another woman, which according to his daughter, became a source of mental and emotional distress for him. Aarti alleged that the woman frequently harassed her father and pressured him to sever ties with his family.
Ten days prior to the incident, Jadhav had reportedly left the woman and was living with Aarti. However, on Friday evening, without informing his family, he went to the woman’s house. Later that night, the woman contacted Aarti’s family to inform them that Jadhav had ingested sulphas tablets, a toxic pesticide.
Aarti has accused the woman of forcibly administering the poison to her father. “It is not suicide. My father was murdered. She harassed him continuously and finally forced him to consume poison,” Aarti told police, urging for a fair and thorough investigation.
The body was sent for a postmortem, and the final report is awaited. Police have said they are examining all aspects, including the possibility of foul play, and will take appropriate action based on the findings.
