DCs must work diligently to implement CM’s budget announcements: Financial Commissioner

Chandigarh: Financial Commissioner of Revenue and Disaster Management Department and Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Dr Sumita Misra has directed all Deputy Commissioners of the state to work diligently on the announcements made by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in the budget speech, conduct a review meeting at their level every 15 days and send the report to the headquarters. Presiding over a meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners through video conferencing, she said that the Chief Minister has given instructions to complete the work of updating the land records of the state by August 2025. She herself will hold a review meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners of the state through virtual medium every 15 days. The registry offices of the department will be made hi-tech on the lines of passport offices. She said now, the measurement of land will be done through robots instead of ‘jareeb’, as announced in the budget. All DCs should form a task force to fulfill the budget announcements. Immediate action should be taken on the announcements made by the Chief Minister to build new buildings of sub-divisions, tehsils and sub-tehsils, she added.

18 students from Haryana qualify RIMC exam, appear for interview

Chandigarh: 18 students from Haryana qualified for the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) RIMC exam and appeared for an interview.  RIMC, a prestigious institution established in 1922 with the goal of providing quality all-round education and nurturing future leaders for the Indian Army, has successfully conducted the interview for candidates aspiring to join the College for the academic term commencing in July 2025. The written examination was held on December 1, 2024. Following this, an interview was conducted on April 8, 2025, at the Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department, Panchkula. The viva-voce of aspiring candidates was conducted by the State Selection Board under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department, Vijayendra Kumar.

Team of Union Ministry inspects creche centres in Sonipat

Chandigarh: Under the National Creche (Shishu Grah) Scheme launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the care of children of working women, a team of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development on Tuesday inspected the creche centres and play schools and anganwadi centres located in Sonipat district. The team included Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development Dr. Pritam Yashwant and Deputy Secretary Abhishek Anand along with other officials. During this, they visited various creche centres located in Sonipat district and inquired in detail about the facilities available to the children from the staff present there. They instructed the women employees working at the creche to take good care of children as well as pay special attention to their studies and ensure that all facilities are provided to them.

HRSC orders compensation of Rs.5,000 to complainant

Chandigarh: The Haryana Right to Service Commission has ordered the Electricity Department to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation to a complainant due to shortcomings of the electricity department. The commission found that Om Prakash, a resident of Bhiwani, was deprived of the facility of increasing the load of agricultural electricity connection under the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme due to the negligence of the electricity department. A spokesperson of the department said that Om Prakash had applied for load enhancement on July 13, 2024. However, the department rejected his application by showing a pending electricity theft penalty of Rs 28,000 in his name. Later, in the investigation  it was discovered that the theft was actually committed by his brother, Ved Prakash, who had taken a direct supply from the transformer. Even though Ved Prakash paid the penalty on September 26, 2024, the amount continued to be shown under Om Prakash’s name.

KHUDIAN KICK STARTS STATEWIDE DEWORMING DRIVE
 
Chandigarh: Punjab Animal Husbandry Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian launched a deworming drive in the state on Tuesday, starting from the Lambi constituency of Sri Muktsar Sahib district. He said Punjab government has purchased deworming medication for livestock at a cost of Rs. 7.78 crore and this medication will be distributed free of cost to farmers. While directing the officials to complete the deworming drive within this week, he further informed that the Animal Husbandry department has formed over 2000 teams to deliver the deworming medication directly to farmers. For those who miss the distribution, the medicine will be available free of cost at their nearest veterinary institute. This is the second deworming campaign which is expected to have a positive impact on milk production and thus increasing farmers income. Last year's campaign was well-received by livestock owners, who requested a repeat this year.
