Counting of votes for Municipal Corporation elections in Hry today

The Counting of votes for the Municipal Corporation elections will be held on Wednesday. On March 2, the polling to elect mayors and all ward members in seven corporations of Gurugram Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, and Yamuna Nagar was conducted and about 46 per cent of the more than 51 lakh eligible voters exercised their franchise. 

 

The bypolls for the post of mayor in Ambala and Sonipat municipal corporations were also held on March 2. The Polling for the Panipat Municipal Corporation was held on March 9 to elect the Mayor and 26 Councillors and 52 percent of 4,11,038 eligible voters exercised their franchise.

Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh said that the counting process will begin on March 12 at 8:00 AM, and the results will be declared on the same day once the counting is completed. Singh stated that the election results will be available on the State Election Commission’s website at https://secharyana.gov.in. During the vote counting process, no candidate, counting agent, or counting staff will be permitted to bring any electronic devices such as mobile phones, pen drives, cameras, laptops, pens, digital watches, etc., to the counting center.

To ensure proper and smooth completion of the vote counting process for the urban local body elections, extensive arrangements have been made by the Commission in coordination with the district administration. Election Observers will be present at all the relevant counting locations. For security purposes, and particularly for the protection of the EVMs, a police force will accompany the team transporting the EVMs from the strong room to the counting center.

Singh said  26 ward members have been elected unopposed in the Urban Local Bodies elections and all elected ward members have been issued certificates by the respective Returning Officers confirming their unopposed election.
