Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday directed the officials to ensure the swift and timely completion of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences and Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur.
Mann, chairing a high-level review meeting at his residence, emphasized that the Rs 418.30 crore project is crucial for providing quality healthcare services to the people of Punjab, especially the Kandi region. The Institute, spread over 21.41 acres, will include a 300-bed ultra-modern hospital and a medical college with an annual intake of 150 students.
The hospital will feature two basements, eight floors, and a dedicated service floor within the existing Medical Hospital Campus in Hoshiarpur. The medical college will have an auditorium, service blocks, and hostels for boys and girls, with expansion plans for future needs.
To expedite construction, the Chief Minister instructed officials to issue separate tenders for the medical college and hospital, ensuring efficient execution. He stressed that all work must be allotted and completed in a time-bound manner, so the region benefits from modern healthcare facilities at the earliest.
