On a city-wide survey of the garbage collection and disposal effort, Bhopal Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan on Tuesday instructed officials to step up cleanliness drive and impose spot fines on those responsible for sanitation code violations and defacing public property.
Commissioner Narayan demanded stringent measures against those who dump garbage, deface walls with posters or banners, or obstruct public spaces. He also asked for immediate clearance of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste and improved clearing of city drains.
He emphasised thorough dust removal from central and side verges, roads and green spaces. Construction sites must comply with green netting, and all sanitation staff must wear proper uniforms while on duty.
The commissioner toured several areas including Arera Hills, MP Nagar, Jehangirabad, Barkehedi, E-2 and E-4 Arera Colony, 10-12 Number, Gulmohar, Bharat Nagar, and Vande Mataram Square to check sanitation standards.
Following this visit, he reiterated strict compliance on green nets at construction sites and the urgent removal of materials dumped on roads. Staff absenteeism and dress code violations will not be tolerated.
