AIIMS Bhopal joined the global community in observing World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2025, aligning with this year's theme, "Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver." The institution organized a series of events to raise awareness, highlight India's progress, and reinforce the collective resolve to eliminate TB by 2025.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs but capable of impacting other organs. It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms include persistent cough, chest pain, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. Although TB is preventable and curable, it remains a major public health challenge, particularly in countries like India.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh said, "Tuberculosis remains a formidable public health challenge in India. Our commitment to end TB by 2025 requires unwavering dedication, substantial investment in healthcare infrastructure, and the effective delivery of prevention and treatment services.
At AIIMS Bhopal, we are steadfast in our mission to support these efforts and ensure a TB-free future for our nation." The events at AIIMS Bhopal included educational seminars, free TB screening camps, and interactive sessions with healthcare professionals to discuss advancements in TB diagnostics and treatment.
These initiatives aimed to empower the community with knowledge and resources to combat TB effectively. As India strives towards its goal of eliminating TB by 2025, AIIMS Bhopal remains committed to playing a pivotal role in this goal.
