Leading a long rally of bikers along the Puri-Satapada NH, Upasana Mohapatra on Saturday filed her nomination for the Brahmgiri Assembly seat on a BJP ticket. She tendered three sets of nomination papers to Sub-Collector Gopinath Kunar designated as Returning Officer for Brahmagiri in presence of her husband Subhransu Biswal and other senior functionaries of BJP.
After nomination Upasana talking to reporters said, she does not feel any hurdle against her win as BJP is going to repeat a second consecutive term. She said the seat is presently in BJP fold since 2019, and has remained to be a saffron bastion in the district for many decades.
Playing an emotional card, she said that the daughter of the soil is now back, to refill the vacuum left by her late father Lulu Mohapatra.
Worthy to mention here that Brahamgiri as a hot seat is going for a keen contest between the BJD and the BJP. Present Satyabadi MLA Umakant Samantaray is contesting in Brahamgiri on a BJD ticket , who has filed his nomination already. Though other parties like Congress, AAP and independent candidates are in the fray, but the fight will be mainly held between Upasana and Uma as both have strong support base in Brahmagiri.
Besides, Suchendra Bhoi and Sujit Mohapatra submitted papers for this seat also as MLA candidates. Similarly, Dillip Kumar Baral has filed papers for Puri Parliamentary seat. Jagannath Bhoi for Satyabadi with Radha Mohan and Ahemed Khan both for Pipili seats have filed their nominations before their returning officers.
