: Tension mounted in Joda police station area of Keonjhar district following mysterious death of an accused in police custody. The deceased was identified as Dinesh Naik of Birikala village under Joda police station of Keonjhar district.
The incident took place on Tuesday. After the death the police allegedly detained the father of the deceased. According to the sources, Dinesh was picked up by the police upon a complaint against him. Suddenly, Dinesh fell ill and his health deteriorated. Police took him to Joda Tisco Hospital for treatment, where the doctor declared him dead. Upon the suspicious death of Dinesh, a post mortem was conducted in presence of a Magistrate, sources said.
After the death, tension gripped the area. Police forces were deployed at Joda police station and Tisco hospital to prevent tension. However, police remained silent as to why the deceased was brought to the police station and what was the cause of death. Irate locals demanded an inquiry into the incident alleging the case to be death out of custodial torture.
