State children to participate in National Word Power Championship

Under the English Literacy Programme, State Level Word Power Championship was organized today under the aegis of School Education and Literacy Department of Jharkhand Government and State Education Project Council in collaboration with Leap for Word. In this state level competition, 24 children from classes 2 to 5 from government schools participated and proved their verbal skills. In this state level Word Power Championship competition, Umashankar Singh, Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department of the State Government, Aditya Ranjan, Director of the State Education Project Council, Jayant Mishra, Administrative Officer of the State Education Project, Abhinav Kumar, State Officer of the Quality Education Division, Teachers and school children from all over the state participated.

In this competition, 24 children from 12 districts solved difficult English words, sentences and paragraphs to the best of their knowledge. The winners of this competition will get a chance to participate in the National Word Power Championship to be held in Mumbai.

The meritorious children of the state participating in the National Word Power Championship will be taken to Mumbai in a chartered plane. State Education Project Director Aditya Ranjan said that the bright children will not only bring glory to the state by showcasing their knowledge in Mumbai. Rather, on behalf of the state, these children will be sent by air to Mumbai, along with accommodation and food, they will also be given a tour of Mumbai in a chartered plane. The state will bear all its expenses.

Addressing the program, State Education Project Director Aditya Ranjan announced to organize Inter School Vocational and ICT Competition among all the government schools of the state in August. Ranjan encouraged the winning children while rewarding them and also boosted the morale of the teachers who trained the children.

Children were awarded prizes in various categories in the State Level Word Power Championship. In Class 2 category, Samarjeet Mahato of Ranchi stood first, Sumit Mahato of Bokaro stood second and Swati of Ranchi stood third. In Class 3 category, Asha Kumari of Ranchi stood first, Ankit Mahato of Ranchi stood second and Swapnil Tiwari of Giridih stood third. In class 4 category, Prabhat Ranjan of Palamu stood first, Anup Kumar Mahato of Ranchi stood second and Soumya of Koderma stood third. In Class 5 category, Devashish from Godda stood first, Asad Akhtar Ansari from Lohardaga stood second and Priyanka Kumari from Ranchi stood third.

The winning children of the state level Word Power Championship will go to Mumbai to participate in the National Word Power Championship to be held in Mumbai. These include Devashish (Class 3, age 10) of Balvadda, Godda, Prabhat Ranjan (Class 4, age 10) of Lahorepura, Palamu, Asha Kumari (Class 3, age 9) of Domandih, Silli, Mesudih (Class 3, age 9) of Silli. Samarjit Mahato (Class 2, Age - 9) is included.
