Man arrested for obstructing traffic, breaking rules to make reels

The Delhi Police took suo moto cognizance of a viral video and arrested a 26 year old man for making a video wherein he is performing stunts endangering the life of others for making 'reels'.

According to the police on Saturday, the accused has been identified as Vipin Kumar, resident of North east Delhi’s New Usmanpur area.

"A video on instagram wherein a person performing dangerous stunts endangering the life of others for making instagram reels was going viral on X. On verification of the video, the person was seen sitting in the middle of the main GT road on a chair with his bike parked next to him blocking/obstructing the vehicular traffic. In the video, someone is telling him that it is against the rule and the person is replying ‘Badmash Hai Ji’," Northeast Delhi DCP Joy Tirkey said.

The officer said that soon after the video went viral on social media, the police team immediately took cognizance of the same.

"Social Media team of northeast district traced the ownership of the parked motorcycle as shown in the video and his instagram ID. The same was forwarded to other senior police officers for taking necessary legal action and for taking down his instagram account," said the DCP.

Police said that the team traced the alleged person and arrested him under sections 283 (Danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) of the IPC and relevant provision of the Motor Vehicle Act.
