Lok Sabha polls: Sector officials prepped for election duties

A one-day comprehensive training program concerning Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) commissioning was organised for sector officials gearing up for the forthcoming Jamshedpur Lok Sabha elections. The event, held at the Ravindra Bhawan Auditorium in Sakchi, saw the active participation of esteemed dignitaries including District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal, Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, and various other pertinent officials.

During the training session, ADM (SOR)  Mahendra Kumar along with other master trainers provided detailed insights into the process of EVM commissioning, encompassing control unit, ballot unit, and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) setup prior to voting. Furthermore, the meticulous sealing procedures for ballot unit, control unit, and VVPAT display unit were meticulously elucidated. Every officer and staff member underwent thorough training on each aspect of EVM commissioning, followed by practical hands-on exercises.

Addressing the gathering, the District Election Officer underscored the pivotal role of Sector Officers in ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process, emphasizing the necessity for complete familiarity with every electoral procedure. He urged all sector officers to absorb the training content diligently to eliminate any potential hurdles during elections and stressed the importance of maintaining continuous communication with the returning officer of their respective areas. Emphasizing proficiency in every aspect from EVM setup to the counting process, he reiterated the importance of Sector Officers in the electoral process.

Echoing these sentiments, the Deputy Development Commissioner emphasized the significance of rigorous training for Sector Officers, as it directly correlates with their ability to discharge duties effectively. He encouraged Sector Officers to seek clarification from master trainers if any doubts arise, emphasizing adherence to Election Commission guidelines without any ambiguity.

In a bid to ensure the participation of all eligible voters, the District Election Officer directed sector officers to verify their names in the voter list, emphasizing that failure to do so may result in disenfranchisement. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of postal voting for deputed officers/employees and urged those not listed in the voter roll to register through Form 6 before the 26th of April. To motivate wider participation, he urged individuals to encourage their family members and relatives to vote.

The training session witnessed the participation of several key officials including ADM Law and Order  Ananth Kumar, Director NEP  Ajay Sao, Deputy Election Officer Mrs. Priyanka Singh, and various other officials, reaffirming their collective commitment towards ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
