Heavy rainfall and thunder storm was witnessed in the wee hours in the state capital on Monday, still humid conditions prevailed in the state and state capital.

There is a trend of intense heat in Bhopal in the month of May. The mercury reached 42.4 degrees Celsius in the first week, but right now there is a storm, rain and cloudy weather. It rained intermittently throughout the night of Sunday. The weather is expected to change on Tuesday also. There may be rain with strong thunderstorms.

According to the Meteorological Department, Bhopal has received the highest rainfall for the fourth time in 10 years. It will be cloudy for the next 3 days.

Bhopal has received a total of 5.7 mm rainfall this month. 3.2 mm rain was recorded on the night of Sunday-Monday alone.

According to the earlier weather pattern 8 years ago on May 21, 2016, the temperature in Bhopal had reached 46.7 degrees Celsius, which is the all-time record for heat. This time it is expected to be extremely hot in the second fortnight of May.

The system is active in the state due to 3 western disturbances, cyclonic circulation and trough line. Hail is also falling along with heavy rain in many cities of the state. Therefore the weather has changed in Bhopal also.

The Met has issued warning of thunder storms and gusty winds with light rainfall in Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Sheopur Kalan, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Patna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur.

while hailstorm, thunder storms and light rainfall would be witnessed in Harda, Alrajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Betul, Khandwa, Barwani, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Pandhurna.

Met has issued a red alert for Khargone and Burhanpur districts which are likely to receive hailstorm, thunder storms and light rainfall and gusty winds of the speed 60- 70 km/hr.
