Heavy rains, hails witnessed in several parts of State capital

Several areas of the state capital went into darkness after power was disrupted due to heavy rain along with thunder and storm in Bhopal on Wednesday. The weather changed in the city after 3 pm. Apart from the old city and Karond, hail has also been witnessed in some areas. During this time, wheat kept in the open in the warehouse located in Kodia Devka of the city was also destroyed.

Power supply was disrupted in several areas, trees were uprooted while traffic jams were seen at main squares and roads flooded with water.

According to the Meteorological Department, similar weather may prevail at night also. Due to the changed weather, the day temperature also dropped in many cities including Bhopal. Bhopal witnessed a drop of 3.8 degrees and recorded 33 degrees.

Bhopal has received 28 mm or more than 1 inch of rain in the last 24 hours on Wednesday evening. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, 10 years ago on April 20, 2013, there was 30.8 mm of rain i.e. 1.25 inches in 24 hours. This is the record of highest rainfall within 24 hours in the month of April. After this, there was never this much rainfall in April between 2014 and 2023. Last year in 2023, 22.6 mm of rainfall was recorded in the entire month.

According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of cyclonic circulation, trough line and western disturbance is also visible in Bhopal. It has been raining for the last three days. Similar weather will continue till April 13.

Before this it rained on Monday and Tuesday also. The wind also blew at a speed of 30 to 40 Km per hour. Due to which the maximum temperature recorded on this day was 36.8 degrees. The day temperature on Monday was 35.8 degrees. There has also been a slight drop in the night temperature.

Light rain may occur in Kolar and urban areas. There may also be drizzle in Berasia, Hoshangabad Road, Raisen Road, Karond.
