Four held on poaching charges

The Chhattisgarh Forest Department has detained four persons for poaching in Baloda Bazar district, an official communiqué said on Sunday.

The department spotted a suspicious person on March 21 on the cameras set up to monitor tiger movements.

The person was identified as 27-year-old Lochan Thakur of Ravan Panchayat.

The department raided his home and seized five pieces of shell bombs, a pangolin skin, 10 pieces of porcupine intestine and teeth and jaw of a wild boar from him.

During interrogation, he named his accomplices as Rishi Thakur (35), Shiv Thakur (33) and Mahasingh Thakur (60).  A court sent them all to prison.
