Friday, 03 May 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The AAP has formed a committee to strengthen coordination with its INDIA Bloc partner Congress for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi and appointed its MLA Durgesh Pathak as the panel’s coordinator. The seven Parliamentary seats in the national Capital will go to polls on May 25 in the sixth round of the seven-phase elections.

“The coordination committee has been formed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national general secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak. Durgesh Pathak has been chosen as its coordinator,” the party said on Thursday. The AAP also appointed the leaders for coordination in each parliamentary constituency in Delhi. The responsibility of coordination in New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency has been given to Rajesh Gupta; West Delhi coordination will be looked after by Naresh Balyan; Dinesh Mohaniya will be the coordinator for South Delhi. Pawan Sharma has been appointed coordinator for the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency; coordination of North West Delhi constituency will be taken care of by Mukesh Ahlawat; Sanjeev Jha will be coordinator for the North East Delhi constituency and Dilip Pandey has been appointed coordinator for ?East Delhi.

Under a seat-sharing arrangement between the two constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), the Congress has fielded candidates from three of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.

The AAP is contesting the remaining four seats. The arrangement was agreed upon even as the two parties decided to contest the general elections independently in Punjab where the AAP is in power.

Meanwhile,  Chairman of the Communications Department of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and ex-MLA Anil Bhardwaj said that a meeting of the Co-ordination Committee will be held on Friday  to draw up a roadmap for the joint campaigns of the INDIA Alliance in all the seven Lok Sabha seats. The programmes will include public meetings and roadshows in all the seven Lok Sabha constituencies, jointly organised by INDIA Alliance.

Bhardwaj said that the District presidents of both the Congress and AAP will establish total co-ordination for the smooth campaigns of the INDIA Alliance. He said that the  Congress candidates were  getting overwhelimg support from the voters in their respective constituencies, with the Congress workers doing round-the-clock works to ensure the victory of the Congress candidates.

Bhardwaj said that all the three Congress candidates, after filing their nomination papers, will release a Vision Document Manifesto regarding the problems and remedies of their respective Lok Sabha constituencies.
