Over one lakh women voters in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district created a world record by taking selfies with their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) as part of a ‘Selfie with EPIC’ voter awareness campaign.
The regional head of the Golden Book of World Records, Sonal Rajesh Sharma, confirmed the record and provided a provisional certificate, an official statement said on Tuesday.
Gariaband Collector Deepak Aggarwal said the record was proof of awareness of women's power.
Now it will be easier to achieve the target of 100 percent voting, he said.
There are about 2.30 lakh women voters in the district.
The campaign was held as part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
