A 17-year-old student of Class 12th died after falling off the 11th-floor balcony of his house in an upscale residential society in DLF Phase 5 on Monday night.
The deceased, identified as Manav, a resident of DLF Carlton Estate in DLF Phase 5 was living with his parents. The victim was a student of a leading private school (Heritage School).
The teenager and his parents were at home since the lockdown was announced in March. Police said he did not leave behind any suicide note.
The teenager and his family were living in a rented house, his father was in a private job and for the past few months, he was at home. Mother is a housewife.
The boy was in the balcony in late-night, while his parents were in their room when he accidentally fell from the balcony. However, it is still not clear how he fell from the balcony.
The security guard first found the teenager in a pool of blood. He immediately informed the security supervisor and parents of the deceased. The teenager was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.
“An autopsy of the body has been conducted. According to the police, the investigation is being carried out under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“We are investigating the matter and will also get more inputs from the deceased parents. As per the initial investigation, it seems like a suicide,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
