Disappointed with the slow work progress on the Kantatoli flyover, Secretary of Urban Development department, Ajoy Kumar Singh today asked the officials of Modi Projects to put into practice a fresh plan for the flyover and complete the project as soon as possible without causing any harm and difficulty to the citizens and the commuters on the road.
Singh, while inspecting the site on Friday, ordered to shift the water pipeline beneath the flyover within one month for construction purposes. He also stressed on the comfort of the people and asked the officials to make sure that the work is carried out efficiently without hampering or interfering in the smooth functioning of the people of the area as well as running of vehicles.
JUIDCO and agency members, who were also present during the meeting, said that the problems caused are due to a small temple, an electricity pole and a small house near the Mangal tower of the Kantatoli Chowk. Addressing the problem, secretary said that they will soon find a solution.
He also asked the contractor to implement a new plan regarding the shift of the electricity lines along with the water pipelines.
The pipelines would be then installed on the corners of the new flyover.
The estimated expenditure on the flyover is said to be around `192 crore, out of which `40 crore would be spent on the flyover.
A total of 19 poles would be built for the flyover that would stretch till 1.25km. The pipeline would be 16.6 m and the road beneath the flyover will be 6-6 m in width. A 10 m long utility duct would also be constructed.
