Three persons held for killing taxi driver

Three persons were arrested on Tuesday by the Gwalior Police for the murder of a taxi driver that occurred in May. The arrested murder accused persons have been identified as Vinod Kushwaha, resident of Datia; Sudhir and Dharmendra Raikawar, both residents of Gwalior. A fourth accused Chottu is still at large. The deceased has been identified as Gaurav Tomar, a resident of Gwalior.

According to sources in the police the four accused had approached Gaurav Tomar near the Railway Station during the first week of May, supposedly for a trip to Karera. They had booked the car with the driver and had allegedly strangled him to death during the journey.

The driver’s body was recovered by the police the next morning from Karera and he was identified as Gaurav Tomar. However the murderers could not be apprehended despite many search operations.

The Police then started their probe and through the help of CCTV camera footage from the Railway Station and other tips they were able to identify the culprits.

On Monday police got a tip off about the whereabouts of one accused, Vinod Kushwaha after which he was arrested from Karera with the assistance of the local police. During interrogation he spilled out the details about the other accused and soon police rounded up two more.

The police said that all four accused are friends, and have committed such incidents of murder and loot in the past as well. Now the police are on the lookout for the absconding accused, Chottu.

The three arrested have been booked under sections 302 and 201 of the IPC for murder and disappearance of evidence respectively, while an intense search operation has been initiated to nab the fourth accused.
