Players of MP bag 52 medals in Canoe Slalom

In the 6th National Canoe Slalom Championship the players of Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy performed well and bagged 52 medals.

The championship was played at Sahastradhara, Maheshwar, from January 10 to 13. Players won the title of "Overall Champion" by winning 18 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals and 11 gold 9 silver and 4 bronze medals in Slalom event with a total of 52 medals.

Twenty-one hundred players from the teams of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have participated in the championship.

Notably, 17 players from Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy earned medals in the championship, the highest six gold medal, Champa Maurya received them at different events. Apart from this, Aarti Pandey, Janhavi Shrivastav, Dhiraj Keer, Vishwajit Singh Kushwaha and Rahul Trilok Kevat got 4-4 and Rahul Baliram Keawat, Prince Parmar and Akash Batham earned 3-3 gold medals.

Academy player Jhanvi Srivastava, Raja Kate, Rahul Trilok Kevat and Prince Parmar 2-2 and Aarti Pandey, Amit Vishwakarma, Rahul Trilok, Saloni Chauhan, Vishal Kavat and Priyanshi, Raja Bundela earned 1-1 silver medals. Apart from this, Aarti Pandey, Vartika Tyagi, Rahul Baliram Kevat, Saloni Chauhan, Akash Batham, Vishal Kavat, Sakshi Dhavai, Priyanshi won one bronze medal.

Medal winners here on Tuesday met the Director Sports and Youth Welfare S.L. Thoussen and shared about the achievements of theirs in the championship.

The sports director encouraged the players by giving them grace and congratulated the players for their outstanding performance in the championship. Meanwhile, Shooting Academy's players Aishwarya Pratap Rajat and Harshit Binjwa won bronze medal in Khelo Youth India Games 2019.
