Comedian and Ollywood actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy, popularly known as Papu Pompom, who hogged headlines for wrong reasons in the past, has now courted a fresh controversy. He has drawn flak over a poster of his upcoming movie ‘Mr Kanheya’ to be released on September 1.
The poster shows Papu Pompom holding ropes tied to the necks of seven girls. Social media users, including sprinter Dutee Chand, have strongly criticised the poster and the film production house.
Stating that the poster is an insult to the women fraternity, they have demanded an immediate removal of the picture. They have alleged that film producers are forgetting the values of Indian culture and tradition for the sake of money.
Dutee Chand Twitted, “I personally do not like the poster and strongly condemn the concept. The poster is a sheer disrespect to the women fraternity.”
“Sadly low grade producer. This attitude reflects low mentality and degrading social value. FIR should file against this culprit,” said a Facebook user.
However, sections of people have come out in support of the poster and the film. “The actor is just playing his role as per the direction. As an audience, you may comment on the content but not on the actors,” said another FB user.
Notably, Papu Pompom is making a comeback to the silver screen with ‘Mr Kanheya’ after a gap of one and a half years due to his illness. He will be seen in it opposite of actress Jhilik Bhattacharya. The film is being produced by Sitaram Agrawal and Namita Agrawal.
Film director Ramesh Rout said, “The poster has not been officially released by the production house. The poster has been posted on social media randomly. A meeting has been called in to discuss the matter.”
