Niranjan poses five questions to Modi

Tuesday, 15 January 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Balangir, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik on Monday welcomed the Prime Minister visit but posed five questions to him.

Patnaik told a Press conference, “We welcome the Prime Minister’s visit to the State, but we request him to answer five questions.”

“The BJP during the last general elections had promised to revise the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy on the basis of the recommendation of the Swaminathan Committee. Why the recommendation of the committee has not yet been implemented? Let the Prime Minister give a clarification on this to the farmers during his visit to Balangir,” the PCC president said.

He also asked the Prime Minister, who had promised to provide jobs to 2 crore youths every year, should tell as to how many youths of Odisha have been provided jobs so far by the Central Government.

Besides, the PCC chief also sought a clarification from the Prime Minister on why the Centre did not give permission to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Sunabeda to manufacture spare parts of the Rafale fighter jet, which would have generated employment opportunities for 30,000 to 40,000 youths.

He also questioned why the Centre stopped the KBK scheme and special assistance to these backward districts of Odisha and why the CBI probe into the mega chit fund scam in Odisha in which some officials of the Chief Minister’s Office are allegedly involved, is going slow.
