A POCSO Court on Wednesday convicted a person in the sensational rape and murder case of a minor girl on April 21, 2018 in Salepur in Cuttack district. .
The court held accused Mohammed Mustaque guilty while the quantum of punishment would be pronounced on Thursday.
Mustaque had raped the six-year-old girl near a school at a village under the Salepur police station. Later, he had also crushed her head with a stone, leaving her critically injured.
The victim had been rescued by villagers and admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, where she succumbed to her injuries on April 29,
The State Crime Branch was probing the case after designating it as a ‘Red Flag’ one.
