Social Welfare Department of the state government has taken cognizance of the rape of a mentally unstable girl at ‘Kopalwani’, a rehabilitation centre for mentally retarded.
A physiotherapist allegedly raped a girl of which a police report was lodged by parents of the victim on January 12. Kopalwani is rehabilitation centre for mentally and physically disabled run by a social organization. Though the matter of rape was reportedly old, a FIR was lodged by family members of victim recently.
Meanwhile the Social Welfare Department on Wednesday instructed the District Collector Raipur for magisterial probe into the matter by an officer not below the rank of Additional Collector. The probe report has to be submitted to the Department within a week, it said.
