The Manav Adhikar Surakhya Manch held its 88th Ghanta Yatra (cymbal beating rally) and a mass demonstration here on Monday against the callous attitude of the School and Mass Education Department in effective implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009 and discrepancies in the education system.
The Manch, in a memorandum to the Governor, demanded that adequate measures be taken for quality education in all Government schools.
Manch coordinator Abani Kumar Gaya alleged that on one side the Government is commercialising the education through private schools and on the other hand quality education is not available in Government schools.
He also said that due to this situation, poor students are deprived of quality education as they cannot afford the fees of the private schools. Every year, the strength of students is decreasing in Government schools, for which many such schools are being closed, Gaya added.
