The Director General, Election Commission of India, Dhirendra Ojha on Monday interacted with officials of the State Chief Electoral Officer's office and the District Election Officers regarding the upcoming assembly elections to be held in the State, through video conference.
He issued directions to the officers regarding paid-news, advertisement by political parties in print media and in electronic media, during the conference.
During the discussion on the functions and responsibilities of the MCMC Committee (Media Certification and Monitoring Committee), he said that the paid news should be closely monitored in the Vidhan Sabha elections and if any case of paid news is reported, then immediate action should be taken.
Ojha said that the district level MCMC committees should be constituted in all the districts for the assembly elections, which will monitor advertisements.
