Champion’s supporters term party decision one-sided

Tuesday, 25 June 2019 | PNS | Haridwar

Following the suspension of Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh Champion from primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party for three months, his supporters have alleged that the decision taken by the party is one-sided.

The supporters of the Khanpur MLA have further demanded that he be made the deputy chief minister of Uttarakhand. It will be recalled that in the recent past a video had gone viral on social media in which Champion was seen purportedly threatening a journalist from the electronic media at Uttarakhand Niwas in the national Capital.

After preliminary inquiry in to this and other charges of indiscipline, the party suspended him from primary member of the BJP. Now the supporters of the MLA have come out in the open to react against his suspension.

In a meeting held at BSM tri-junction crossing in Roorkee, they alleged that party had taken a one-sided decision. Speaking to this correspondent, Sachin Gurjar said that with the action taken by the party against Champion, there is considerable dissatisfaction among members of the Dalit community.

“We demand from the party high command to give the MLA a chance to be heard." Notably Champion was elected to the Assembly once as an independent candidate, twice as a Congress candidate and this time as a BJP candidate.

He has considerable following and his popularity is much among the people of Laksar area.

His supporter Narendra Singh alleged that the journalist had entered forcefully into the room of Champion in Delhi which was not considered while making a decision. The party high command should have listened to both sides, he added.
