After entering into pre-poll alliance, Communist Party of India (CPI) with Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) (JCC) (J)-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has announced its first list of candidates comprising five names for the Assembly polls.
The CPI having entered the alliance was given two seats of Konta and Dantewada but as per agreement, it was also given further seats where a joint candidate was to be put up.
Manish Kunjam, former MLA having extensive influence in Bastar division and raising tribal issues has been made the candidate against Deputy Leader of Opposition and Congress sitting MLA from Konta, Kawasi Lakhma.
The other candidates announced are-- Mangal Ram Kashyap from Jagdalpur general seat, Kondagaon candidate is Ramchandra Nag, Keshkal candidate is Radhika Sodhi, and Nandram Sodhi from Dantewada, said CPI’s Chhattisgarh State Secretary R. D. C. P. Rao When contacted, C R Bakshi, CPI’s Central Control Commission Secretary and Central Programme Commission Member said that CPI would be fielding more candidates apart from others in Bastar. The alliance would support the party candidates in election fray.
Party would also field candidates in one or two seats in Janjgir-Champa district, if alliance further works out, he said.
