City sees 543 fresh dengue cases, total victims 2,187

With the recent spurt of 543 fresh cases of dengue in just last one week, in the nation’s Capital the total number of victims has reached  reached to 2,187, suggested the report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Monday. 

According to the report, out of last week’s fresh cases, 180 belonged to Delhi while 309 were from other States. In 54 cases, address of the patients was not reported by the hospitals.

Of all the three corporations (North, South, East), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) with 24 out of 180 recorded highest number of cases.

While North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) recorded 10, 19 were recorded in East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).

Similarly, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) recorded 6 fresh cases, 15 cases were reported from Delhi Cantonment. Out of the 180, 106 were untraced after investigation.

In the same way, around 66 cases of malaria were reported last week which is less than previous week’s 75.

However, the total cases of the vector borne disease have risen to 766 this year. As far as chikungunya is concerned, 17 cases were reported last week.

Amidst this, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sent legal notices to 5,848 households after they were found positive for mosquito breeding while 1,000 fresh prosecutions were launched last week, suggested the latest report released by Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) on Monday.

“A total number of 8,941 households were found positive for mosquito breeding last week out of which 5,848 houses were sent legal notices,” said a senior official.

As of now, more than 1, 60,000 houses have been sent legal notices and prosecution has been launched in around in more than 23,000 cases. Apart from that, more than 17 lakh houses have been sprayed of which, 2, 32,789 were sprayed last week.
